Blow-Through Aerolock™ Rotary Valve

The Blow-Through Aerolock™ is designed for heavy-duty industrial service in applications of up to 0.8 bar [12 PSI ]pressure differential. The blow through configuration enhances rotor cleanouts and makes installation in tight quarters possible.

Typical Industry Application Using the Blow-Through Aerolock Rotary Valve

Milling and Baking Industry

The milling and baking industry orders the Blow-Through Aerolock in our Standard 7 configuration. This includes flat-tip rotors and lip seals which are well-accepted in the industry.

Housing and end plates
The housing and end plates are machined from castings and are made of wear iron or chrome-plated wear iron. Square or round inlet/outlet flange patterns available.

Seals

  • T3 seal
The general purpose T3 Rotary Valve seal is used on both ends of the rotor shaft. The assembly is comprised of a Teflon® collar anchored to the shaft and two steel-cased quad ring seals which fit over the Teflon collar. The seals remain stationary while the Teflon collar rotates with the shaft. The Teflon’s slick surface allows quad rings to operate in dry mode with good service life.
  • Lip seal
The double lip seal without the Teflon collar provides an inexpensive rotary valve seal for nonabrasive materials. Two steel-cased rubber seals envelope the shaft at both ends.
  • Air purge seals
The air purge seal is for severe service applications. Plant air is introduced through end plates and the air diffuser ring. This provides a zone of higher pressure outside the seals than inside the Aerolock rotary valve. The seal cavity is swept clean toward the inside of the Aerolock, protecting the outboard bearings.
  • G5 seals
The G5 seal is for high service applications and includes a quad ring Buna-N seal on a stainless steel insert.

Bearings - thrust end
The radial-thrust, tapered roller bearing assembly is preloaded to provide minimum rotor deflection. This results in close rotor clearance to maximize wear life.

Bearings - drive end
The radial ball bearing assembly provides firm shaft support on the drive end and allows expansion and contraction due to temperature changes along the longitudinal axis.

Rotors
Eight blades maintain a minimum two-blade labyrinth seal to minimize air leakage. The rotors are equipped with relieved tips for materials which form skins or thin sheets on end plates and housing, or non-relieved tips for cereal products. Open-ended rotors are also available.
